Prop Safety - Use a Bag!
A propeller can kill and you should never go near the
prop of a running engine, even if the gearbox is in neutral. The engine
should always be turned off and the keys removed from the ignition.
Make sure that it is impossible for anyone else to start the boat's
engine when someone is examining or working near the engine leg and
prop.
Your boat engine's propeller can be a serious hazard
to anyone who happens to be caught by it, even when it isn't in motion.
The sharp edges of the blades and the dings that they accumulate make
up a significant danger. Catching a prop blade with an arm or leg
can result in deep cuts and not insignificant injuries. Make sure
that they don't happen in the first place by always using a prop bag
or other cover when your boat is out of the water.
