Welcome to PropBag.com, the one-stop website for finding affordable, durable and high quality prop bags to safely cover your boat engine propeller.

Making a Prop Bag

It's relatively easy to make your own prop bag, should you wish. Some heavy duty bright waterproofed plastic coated fabric, polyester or nylon is a common material. Along with a sturdy sewing machine, thick rot-proof thread, some cord for the drawstring and a little time, they are all the materials you need to make your own prop bag. Remember to ensure that the colour and weight of your chosen material complies with the appropriate local laws, otherwise your home-made prop bag may end up costing you the expense of a traffic fine and prosecution. Providing that you comply with the laws in your particular jurisdiction, making your own propeller cover bag should be straight forward enough. You only need a large rectangle of suitable material and to machine a few straight stitch lines along seams and drawstring hem and you will soon have a bag that will give you years of service.

Basic prop bag

1. Make paper pattern first in order to check size.
2. Place pattern on material & cut out.
3. Sew the hem for the drawstring - leave ends open.
4. Turn bag inside out.
5. Sew along the dotted lines.
6. Turn the bag right-side out and thread drawstring through hem.
